DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Phowa is the transference of consciousness to a pure land at the time of the physical body death. We’ll learn about the Amitabha Pure Land\, and talk about the possibilities of enlightenment at the time of transition. The students will get familiar with the vocabulary and stages of dying\, based on the Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. The student is encouraged to get the Phowa empowerment from the Tibetan Lama\, after the Introduction to Phowa. The class will be held in person and on line. \nEight Verses of Training the Mind by Geshe Langri Thangpa \n1. By thinking of all sentient beings\nAs more precious than a wish-fulfilling jewel\nFor accomplishing the highest aim\,\nI will always hold them dear. \n2. Whenever I’m in the company of others\,\nI will regard myself as the lowest among all\,\nAnd from the depths of my heart\nCherish others as supreme. \n3. In my every action\, I will watch my mind\,\nAnd the moment destructive emotions arise\,\nI will confront them strongly and avert them\,\nSince they will hurt both me and others. \n4. Whenever I see ill-natured beings\,\nOr those overwhelmed by heavy misdeeds or suffering\,\nI will cherish them as something rare\,\nAs though I’d found a priceless treasure. \n5. Whenever someone out of envy\nDoes me wrong by attacking or belittling me\,\nI will take defeat upon myself\,\nAnd give the victory to others. \n6. Even when someone I have helped\,\nOr in whom I have placed great hopes\nMistreats me very unjustly\,\nI will view that person as a true spiritual teacher. \n7. In brief\, directly or indirectly\,\nI will offer help and happiness to all my mothers\,\nAnd secretly take upon myself\nAll their hurt and suffering. \n8.
